The Faculty-Staff Handbook is not intended to be an all-inclusive document. Descriptive information that formerly was reported in the Handbook -- say, concerning the Pierce Library , the Division of Distance Education, the Bookstore -- has been deleted as units have developed their own web-based information and as the emphasis in the Handbook has shifted from descriptive information to an emphasis on policy.
This Handbook is intended as a general guide to laws, rules, and policies applicable to Eastern Oregon University. The Handbook does not create any legal rights. In order to determine what legal relationship exists in any given area, faculty and staff will be required to examine the source documents such as laws, rules, and contracts. To the extent the Handbook also sets out University policy, keep in mind that policies can change at the discretion of University Administration. An effort is made to maintain the accuracy of the Handbook as reflected in the bracketed enclosure at the end of each section which identifies the individual responsible for the materials and the date last reviewed, however, no guarantee of accuracy is made.
Copies of the Administrative Rules of the Oregon University System (OAR's) may be found in the Library, School Offices, and in the President's Office. The Oregon Administrative Rules are also available through the Web. A copy of the Personnel Rules may be found in the Personnel Office and in the Library. Each classified staff member receives a copy of the labor agreement.
