FACULTY/STUDENT COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS

These proposals are initiated by a faculty member and provide some limited funds for students who assist faculty with research or creative activity. The grant, allocated by the RAG Committee, will be in the form of funds used to pay for the student providing assistance. Guidelines are:

  1. The grant is limited to undergraduate students (residential or off campus).
  2. The work assignment must relate to the area of the student's academic training and must provide a significant learning experience. Make clear why this should be paid assistance rather than for research credit (i.e., Research 401 credit).
  3. The amount of the grant will be determined by the hours of work and the appropriate hourly compensation.  A maximum of $500 can be assumed.
  4. Faculty mentors make an application to RAG at any time using the form provided under Forms. Please include:
        a. the student's name and ID number.
        b. the student's academic experiences related to the proposed activity.
        c. the significant learning experience anticipated by the student's involvement related to student's program of study.
        d. an estimate of the hours and rate of compensation.
        e. beginning and ending dates.
         f. the manner in which the student will be supervised.
  5. Both the faculty mentor and the student are expected to participate in the Spring Symposium by presenting a paper or poster of the completed activity.
