Risk Management:

Helping to manage and coordinate claims between EOU, The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and Other Parties...

Specific areas of responsibility include:

1. Approving the service of alcoholic beverages at University events or on EOU property.
   
2. Filing Volunteer Conditions of Service and Waiver forms.
3. Filing restoration claims on behalf of the university.
4. Coordinating the purchase of Special Event Insurance for activities involving paying or registered participants of EOU-sponsored events.
5. Filing liability claims on behalf of third parties who may have been damaged or injured as a result of negligence or harm committed by university actions or inaction.
6. Coordinating requests for commercial insurance for activities that are deemed beyond the scope of the state self-insurance fund.

About DAS Risk Management Division:

The DAS Risk Management Division is the state's manager for self-insurance, insurance and risk control. The Claim Management Section investigates, evaluates, and resolves claims for damage to state property and for loss or injury to the Public arising out of state activities. The state uses both self-insurance and commercial policies to insure against loss. ORS 278.405 grants broad authority to DAS-RMD to purchase commercial insurance, develop and administer self-insurance programs, or any combination, thereof, as may be in the best interest of the state. DAS-RMD may condition payment of all or part of any loss covered by the Insurance Fund. Only Risk Management is authorized to purchase commercial insurance on behalf of the state.
