Soc 409: Social welfare practicum

What are the prerequisites for taking a practicum?

  1. Soc 315 (you can be taking it in the Fall);
  2. Admission to the program;
  3. Senior standing;
  4. Completing a field placement contract

You should schedule in advance a time to sit down and discuss practicum placement with Bill Grigsby, explore the different possibilities, and evaluate your learning and professional interests, before the start of the term in which you want to register for practicum credit. You can contact possible sites based on your interests and our discussion, and receive contact information so you can schedule an interview with the social welfare provider. It's important that you let your faculty advisor know what you're doing, who you're planning to contact--keep in touch.
