How are practica graded?

You'll be evaluated based on how well you met the objectives you listed in your field placement contract. You'll need to document the hours you worked, and what you did during that time. You will turn in two documents: a journal that describes when you worked and what you did (that accounts for your time), and that also shows your efforts to interpret what you did. In other words, the practicum isn't just about putting in hours, it's about gaining a better understanding of how sociological insight can make you more effective as a professional in the social welfare discipline. Second, you must turn in a paper, 4-5 pages in length. I will look to make sure that you either did what you set out to do, or if it changed, that you documented this well and can account for your time.

Practica will change from pass ('S') or fail ('U') to a graded system starting Fall 2009.
